I have no ambition in this world but one, and that is to be a fireman. The position may, in the eyes of some, appear to be a lowly one; but we who know the work which the fireman has to do believe that his is a noble calling. Our proudest moment is to save lives. Under the impulse of such thoughts, the nobility of the occupation thrills us and stimulates us to deeds of daring, even of supreme sacrifice.”
Chief Edward F. Croker, FDNY Circa 1910
I am a volunteer Firefighter-EMT in Waterford, CT. I am married man with a wife and two stepchildren, Robert and Jessica. They are both kids to be proud of, even if it is for very different reasons! Robert has his own website and is very active in the paintball industry and has his own paintball team, his site is Redline Paintball. Jessica is the baby of the family and has gone out on her in the last couple of years and has done well at beginning a life for herself, she works at a car rental agency and has done very well for them too. St Agnes Parrish in Niantic, Connecticut is where my wife and I attend church a lot less often than we should, one of my goals for this year is to be there more regularly. I am also a collector of Code Three scale models and have some from both FDNY and Boston FD.
I enjoyed the 2008 New England Association of Fire Chiefs Show and was proud to see Waterford units displayed, Oswegatchie got a brand new F550 Lifeline and I was glad it was shown off at the show by the dealer. I am quite happy to show it once again here, I just want to mention that last year Goshen had the new fire-rescue boat W-93 displayed, I wonder what will be on display next year!
I am a writer of fiction and recently opened an account at a web site called FictionPress.com to have a place to post my writings. I am also the webmaster for another of the local fire companies and a local car club. I have created some custom backgrounds and you can view them here.
The World Cup is one of my favorite sporting events (Me and most of the World!) and I am already looking forward to the 2010 World Cup. I would love to see the US men win, but if not them then may Italy repeat! Formula 1 racing is another sporting event I love to watch. McLaren is my favorite team, and I was happy to see that Lewis Hamilton won the drivers championship in 2008.
